The advertised monthly figure is usually an entry price. Put in what a program quoted you and this works out the full-term total — plus the questions worth asking before you pay.

Why the monthly number understates it

Three things routinely sit outside an advertised price: medication, which is commonly billed at a pharmacy; lab work, which some programs bundle and others don't; and the price after an introductory period ends. A program can be entirely honest about each and still leave an impression of the cost well below what you'll pay.
